La fotografía de vanguardia cubana en el IVAM

Hasta el 6 de mayo se podrá ver en el IVAM la exposición “Fotografía de Vanguardia en Cuba”, realizada en colaboración con la Fototeca de Cuba y el Consejo Nacional de Artes Plásticas de Cuba.

En total son 107 fotografías, tomadas entre las décadas de los 20 y 50 del siglo XX, por 11 fotógrafos cubanos. El interés de esta muestra es el poco conocimiento que se tiene del trabajo fotográfico en esos años, debido a las características especiales que tomó el campo de la fotografía, dedicándose sobre todo a documentar los acontecimientos de la lucha contra la dictadura de Batista y los primeros años de la denominada “fotografía épica”, hecha en los años 60. Estas imágenes tuvieron un marcado protagonismo, ya que marcaron fuertemente este periodo y han sido muy difundidas internacionalmente, y todo ello gracias a que en Cuba existía un excelente caldo de cultivo en la reproducciòn fotográfica.

Los 11 fotógrafos expuestos son: Jorge Figueroa, Raúl Corrales, Pedro Yodu Griñán, Tito Álvarez, Roberto Rodríguez Decall, Abelardo Rodríguez, Ricardo Repilado, Jorge Rodón Badell, Felipe Atoy, José Manuel Acosta y Joaquín Blez.Todos ellos fueron pioneros en tomar la fotografía como un medio para sus experimentaciones artísticas.

En sus trabajos se ponen de manifiesto muchos elementos que hicieron entrar en Cuba la vanguardia a este campo, como la nueva visión sobre la figura femenina, el reconocimiento de la diversidad racial y cultural … todo ello se expresa por lenguajes distintos que evidencian la prioridad que se otorgaba a la experimentación formal.

Las nuevas tendencias que aportaron sus contemporáneos de otras regiones fueron asumidos por muchos de estos fotógrafos cuyas obras revelan niveles de actualización notables para su tiempo.

The photograph of Cuban art at the IVAM

In his works reveal many elements that made Cuba into the forefront in this field, as the new vision of the female figure, the recognition of racial and cultural diversity ... all this is expressed in different languages ​​that demonstrate the priority was given to formal experimentation.

The new trends that contributed their contemporaries in other regions were assumed by many of the photographers whose works reveal significant levels of upgrade for your time.
