El parque Gulliver



Valencia tiene muchos parques bonitos. Pero el más especial es, sin duda, el parque de Gulliver. Sorprende tanto a niños como a adultos. Es una visita obligada si pasas por Valencia. ¡Cuántas excursiones escolares habremos hecho los niños valencianos a este precioso parque!

El Parque Gulliver lo encontraremos dentro del conocido Jardín del Turia, situado sobre el antiguo cauce del río Turia. Podremos acceder a él gratuitamente desde las 10 hasta las 20h., de lunes a domingo, aunque en la época estival suelen ampliar el horario hasta las 21.30h. Es un magnífico lugar de reposo y diversión para los niños, y además, muy cercano a la Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias.
Como su nombre bien indica, el parque recrea una escena del famoso cuento de Jonathan Swift “Los viajes de Gulliver”. El gigante Gulliver yace en el suelo inmovilizado con cuerdas y dormido después del naufragio de su barco, en el momento en que acaba de llegar al país de Lilliput. Todo su cuerpo en el parque valenciano está preparado para el disfrute de los niños, como si fuesen liliputienses del cuento: está lleno de toboganes.

Lo de gigante no es para menos, ya que la figura de Gulliver es una escultura monumental de 70 metros. Todo rampas, toboganes y escaleras. Aparentemente las dimensiones colosales pueden asustar a los padres, pero cabe decir que el material de la figura es relativamente blando, tiene formas redondeadas y los tramos más empinados están recubiertos con antideslizantes, lo cual aumenta la seguridad de los niños. Si queda alguna duda, ¡los padres siempre pueden acompañar a sus hijos en sus aventuras por el mundo de Lilliput!

Este enorme monumento infantil data de 1990, cuando el Ayuntamiento de Valencia se lo encargó al arquitecto Rafael Rivera y al artista fallero Manolo Martín, quienes pusieron en marcha un diseño de Sento Llobell.
